About Our Compost

Ecoverde compost is made with select blends of local food waste, horse manure and a variety of yard waste (leaves, shredded wood, chipped brush) and uses best management practices to process the materials into a slow releasing soil enhancement product that improves soil structure and water retention. Initially we will be focused on a compost blend that has tremendous regenerative properties to aid in restoring the natural environment and soil health. Further, all of our products from Compost to Potting Mix will have no added chemicals and will be produced from locally sourced materials.

Compost Blends

EcoVerde offers two distinct compost lines.

EcoVerde Soil-Enhancing Compost

EcoVerde Compost is a blend of food scraps, wood chips, horse manure and leaves. The inputs variety supports a diversity of microbes that consume organic matter in the soil and release nutrients in forms plants can use, thus improving soil health and plant growth. EcoVerde Compost is a great fit for top-dressing beds and lawns, blending in for vegetables and flowers, and as an amendment to planting mixes. It is a great choice for those who value environmental preservation because it reduces food scraps sent to disposal.

EcoVerde Soil-Enhancing Compost + Biochar

This is the same quality compost blended with biochar. Biochar is a stable, charcoal-like substance that further helps moderate moisture and provides more places for beneficial microbes to grow. These microbes consume organic matter in the soil and release nutrients in forms plants can use, thus improving soil health and plant growth. Compost + Biochar is great for building new beds, improving soil conditions, and blending with soil for transplanting trees and shrubs.
